Without any formal training, answering exclusively to the impulse of restless creativity, he explores the arts with a tranquil curiosity, with an innocence uncontaminated by academic prejudice or commercial bias. On a conscious quest for the most natural means of expression he is the author of a few books, as well as flirting with painting and film.
White paintings, Mysticism or mystery? Does eternity for the human being exist? Where do we come from? Where do we go to? The faces of the Fayum have been alive in their graves for more than two thousand years imperishable, incorrupt, in spite of the passage of time. They are eternal and nevertheless full of freshness, the almost ethereal freshness of a picture painted today. With the same freshness Doireau recreates those old pictures to bring them to us, to our daily world and its particular language, mad and bewildered. Tender, calm images, elaborated with affection and sense of importance by long gone masters, who mummified their faces before their souls flew far away… Who knows? Today, Doireau obediently satiates the Fayum’s thirst of continuity through the sole possible way: transformation. Thus, their new faces are no longer mirror images; they have become reliefs, anonymous textures, lights and shades. Black is born from total darkness, not the black color but all the colors in one. Electric, intuitive outlines, urged by the speed in which the matter hardens definitively and without concessions. Preconceived the asymmetry that settles down first from a vertical outline. The new white, immaculate faces look at us from their duality: a declared femininity born from brutality. Close to the end a single drop places itself where it pleases as a summit providing fll sense to an already unique canvas. A face reconstructed with the same essence of those acquiring new eternity. His unclassifiable works manifest a pure, free, untamed, unassuming style in an approach that favours suggestion, an exchange of feelings, over mere beauty. Each and every one of them is a clear invitation to think with the heart. His concept of art goes beyond unidirectional personal creation in that it merely points at the beginning of a journey which the attentive observer, fully involved, should pursue and bring to an end.
Through the interaction of both, the oeuvre becomes collective, always alive, constantly moving and in expressive growth. The creations of this young and nevertheless mature sculptor can be pleasing or not, but they are certain never to inspire indifference, moving the spirit with the prodigious magic of the great masters, spurring our six senses into action.
